Here I sink in the midst of the waves
Wondering how I had gotten here so quickly
Though once so sure of Your will
As you called me out, defying gravity

I find my lungs filled with doubt and its salty sting
I cry out for help
Arms flailing like a falling bird
Wings broken in the midst of flight

I wait with baited breath
For Your hand to pull me aboard
And say in familiar tones
“You have so little faith, why did you doubt Me?”

When I catch my breath again
And my soul reminds me of my lack
Please reassure me
That the very point
Was to just get out of the boat

Here I sink in the midst of the waves

Wondering how I had gotten here so quickly

Though once so sure of Your will

As you called me out, defying gravity

I find my lungs filled with doubt and its salty sting

I cry out for help

Arms flailing like a falling bird

Wings broken in the midst of flight

I wait with baited breath

For Your hand to pull me aboard

And say in familiar tones

“You have so little faith, why did you doubt Me?”

When I catch my breath again

And my soul reminds me of my lack

Please reassure me

That the very point

Was to just get out of the boat
